Profile

Interior Designer Julie Anne Burch taps into universal source energy to inspire each space she creates.

Her distinct style is one that combines her formal training in design, a lifetime of creating spaces, and in-depth knowledge of wellness and the spiritual world. She adds another dimension to each project by integrating the energy of the client, the feeling of the space and the frequency of everything in that space.

“Our body, our clothes and our home environment all mirror who we are,” she said. “So, every person has an entirely different idea of what a home is, based on a highly personal fusion of past and present experiences, and hopes for future experiences.”

Since launching her career in 2006, Julie Anne has curated environments for a growing clientele community. Her patrons include large families with multiple residences, and esteemed professionals throughout the worlds of politics, finance, medicine, law, and real estate. Her expansive portfolio spans a multitude of styles and spaces, from Pre-War to modern structures throughout New York, Connecticut, Atlanta, South Carolina, Santa Fe, Colorado, California, Paris, London, Italy, Berlin and beyond.

“I take a holistic approach to every space I create for someone,” she said. “I know it’s complete when it not only achieves the particular goals the client sets, but also resonates to a certain energetic frequency. I can feel it. The client can, too.”

Before graduating from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a degree in French Literature, she had already lived in five different states and helped design five very different homes in each one. “Every time a Dutch relative passed away in Holland, my family would receive a large wood crate filled with antiques,” she said. “The pure delight I felt filling our home with whatever emerged from these crates full of the treasures they had collected during their world travels is what birthed my love for creating beautiful homes.”

After college, she moved to France for seven years where she worked for The National Geographic in Paris, represented the U.S. as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar based in Aix-en-Provence, then designed events for The Cannes International Film Festival. In 2006, she returned stateside having already lived in twelve different homes she composed.

Under the mentorship of interior designer Lori Greene, in 2011, Julie Anne officially launched her career as an interior designer and founded her own firm, Transitional Living, Inc.

Today, she calls upon the specialized skills of her accomplished team of professional shoppers, builders, carpenters, healers, artisans and fine artists to properly translate whatever her clients desire.

“I shape sanctuaries that profoundly reflect and nourish the individual spirit and aspirations of each client. What matters to my clients, matters to me.”

Primarily based in New York City, Julie Anne travels each week to a different location around the world, sourcing items, checking on projects and meeting with clients while maintaining five homes of her own in New York City, Paris, Atlanta, South Carolina and Vermont.
